 Repeaters

STARS owns and operates a 2 meter repeater and a 440 MHz repeater in the Buffalo area, both under the call sign WB2ELW. They are located in Colden, NY, about 20 miles southeast of Buffalo, at the transmitter site of WIVB-TV, Channel 4.

 2 METER REPEATER

The 2 meter repeater transmits on 147.090 MHz and receives on 147.690 MHz, with a receive PL tone of 107.2MHz. The system uses a Kenwood TKR-720 repeater with a Mirage B-2516-R repeater amplifier capable of 100 watts of continuous output power. The amplifier power is set to provide a maximum ERP of 160 watts from a Sinclair SRL-229 colinear antenna, which is mounted at 60 feet above the ground level of 1650 feet. A TX-RX Inc. duplexer feeds the antenna, and two additional TX-RX bandpass cavities are used to filter the received signal. A remote receiver at the club's Nike Base HF station improves the repeater's reception for areas blocked by terrain in the vicinity of Hamburg, NY. Repeater control is maintained with a Link Communications "Club" controller capable of computerized remote control. The Link Communications DVR-1 digital voice recorder is used for repeater ID's and informational announcements. The repeater system features available to members are listed below.

 440 MHz REPEATER

The 440 MHz repeater transmits on 442.325 MHz and receives on 447.325 MHz, with a receive PL tone of 107.2MHz. This system uses a GE Mastr II transmitter, receiver, and amplifier. Power output is set to provide a maximum ERP of 160 watts from a Diamond X-500 HNA colinear antenna also mounted at 60 feet above the ground level of 1650 feet. A TX-RX Inc. duplexer feeds the antenna. This repeater shares the Link Communications "Club" controller and digital voice recorder with the 2 meter repeater. All repeater system features are also available to members through this repeater.
